As a Data Onboarding Manager, you will own the end-to-end process of acquiring and automating district data within our system. This role requires strong project management and client management skills, as you will be the primary point of contact for clients during the data onboarding process--managing timelines, guiding them through data specifications, and ensuring a smooth onboarding process. This role also requires a deep understanding of our data structure, technical expertise in SQL and Python, and the ability to develop plug-ins when needed. You will play a critical role in ensuring data quality and automation, enabling a seamless onboarding experience for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Own client onboarding: Act as the primary liaison for districts, guiding them through data setup and automation.
- Be a data specification expert: Clearly communicate data requirements, ensuring clients understand and can meet expectations.
- Automate data processes: Implement solutions to streamline data ingestion, which may include building plug-ins or other integrations.
- Investigate and resolve data issues: Use SQL queries and basic Python scripts to troubleshoot data discrepancies for both internal teams and district partners.
- Lead pre-contract data calls: Support the sales team by assessing data feasibility and addressing potential integration challenges early.
- Optimize onboarding timelines: Identify and implement strategies to reduce delays in data acquisition.
- Document and standardize processes: Maintain comprehensive documentation on data acquisition workflows, SIS-specific challenges, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Support cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to enhance data pipelines and improve district onboarding experiences.
- Develop data transformation workflows: Ensure district data is properly formatted and integrated into our internal systems.
- Manage integrations: Oversee data transmission processes, including SFTP management and SIS plug-in development.
- Enhance internal tools: Build scripts and automations to improve efficiency and support non-technical teams in managing district data.
Must Have:
- Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
- Ability to build rapport and influence clients to take necessary actions for successful onboarding.
- 2+ years experience working with external clients
- 1+ years Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
- 1+ years Experience with Python or another object-oriented programming language.
- Understanding of system integrations and data mapping tools.
- Ability to diagnose data quality issues and implement solutions.
- Problem-solving mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with K-12 Student Information Systems (SIS) and attendance data.
- Consultative experience working with K-12 districts on data-related topics.
- Knowledge of how data is used in education and its impact on school operations.
- Experience with product management or software engineering.
- Familiarity with AWS, Terraform, or serverless computing.
- Exposure to Java/Dropwizard or similar backend frameworks.
